“A Resounding Success!” JAMPRO hosts closing ceremony for export development programme Export Max II

JAMPRO reports that its export development programme Export Max II has resulted in significant gains for participating exporters enlisted in the programme. The Agency made the announcement at the Export Max II Closing Ceremony hosted today, November 14, 2017 at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel in Kingston.

According to JAMPRO, the Export Max programme resulted in 213.4% average growth for the 19 participating companies. JAMPRO also says that all companies are now exporting, and all enterprises have acquired at least one new export market throughout the programme. The new markets spanned the UK, Canada, the US and the Caribbean. As part of market penetration efforts, all 19 companies participated in inward and outward trade missions to promote their products to international buyers. 173 new jobs have also been created due to the companies’ success.

The companies participated in business development coaching, productivity audits, trade missions and exhibitions, and received mentorship from business professionals. As a result of Export Max II, some enterprises are implementing improvement in quality standards and improving their packaging and labeling to appeal to international markets.

JAMPRO President Diane Edwards lauded the programme, saying that the intense 3-year initiative gave exporters the opportunity to access training and services on a one-to-one basis and access new markets, as well as improving the companies’ productivity, one of Jamaica’s critical issues affecting the country’s manufacturing sector.

Ms. Edwards said, “We have seen the growth of these companies over three years and we are proud of their success in exporting, which JAMPRO is keen on improving to boost the economy. With the support of our sponsors and partners, we were able to support a cadre of companies that are focused on bringing Brand Jamaica to the world. I look forward to seeing them continue to expand their reach internationally, and support other companies who are looking to enter the export market.”

JAMPRO is an Agency of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation. JAMPRO’s partners for the Export Max II programme are Development Bank of Jamaica, Heart Trust NTA, Jamaica Productivity Centre and Scotiabank.
