One hundred and seventy-five (175) buyers have already registered to attend the Jamaica International Exhibition (JIE) trade show. Representatives of 13 countries will be perusing Jamaican and international products for international and local retail and distribution at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James on May 30 - June 1, 2019.  The JIE is staged by the Jamaica Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (JMEA).

The Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) has reported that buyers have shown steady interest in the event, as Jamaica raises its profile as a place for business and high-quality products. The Buyers’ major sectors of interest are currently Fresh Produce, Processed Foods and Beverages, Agriculture, and Cosmetics. JAMPRO expects that 200 buyers will be registered for JIE 2019.

In response to the news of buyer interest in the event, Chairman of the JIE’s organising committee, Brian Pengelley said “Our partner, JAMPRO, has done an excellent job in bringing a tremendous cohort of buyers to the table. With the influx of purchasers and a growing support from the local business community, all the pieces are in place to establish JIE, and by extension Jamaica as an international trading hub.”

He noted that the JIE is a multi-sectoral all-inclusive event, which will allow buyers to do business with manufacturers and service providers from multiple industries in one location. He said, “The event brings power professionals together to do business, share ideas, network and access the latest products and technologies as well as creates an ideal momentum for participants to generate profitable returns and new investment leads.”

JAMPRO President, Diane Edwards, said she was encouraging buyers and exhibitors to participate in the event, as it will provide an environment to form business relationships with local and international participants, and linkages with partners across multiple sectors. Ms. Edwards said, “Following on the success of JIE in 2017, JAMPRO is happy to once again collaborate with the JMEA to encourage export and business partnerships at this trade exhibition. The JIE helps to boost Jamaica’s brand as a location for business and shows that we have a thriving manufacturing sector that is ready to compete on a global scale. We will continue our drive to recruit buyers, and we are quite optimistic that JIE 2019 will exceed our previous success.”

The Jamaica International Exhibition (JIE) 2019 is a biennial multi-sectoral tradeshow. The event is open to the public on Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
