The International Fine Cocoa Conference and Chocolate Expo’s Cocktail Reception was held on February 6, 2017. The two-day event presented a platform through which stakeholders could become better informed on challenges facing the sector and approaches to be taken towards its development, in light of favourable research pointing to an expected surge in the demand for premium cocoa over the next decade.

The reception was hosted by JAMPRO and the Development Bank of Jamaica to support the conference, which aimed to inform stakeholders in the cocoa industry of solutions to challenges and opportunities for development. JAMPRO made a presentation at the event to mobilise players in the industry interested in exporting their cocoa products, President Diane Edwards said, “ For our cocoa industry to advance, we will have to think of new ways to develop and package our products to compete at the global level. Jamaica has some of the finest cocoa in the world so the framework already exists, what we need now is to innovate more to transform the framework into a full-bodied industry. JAMPRO is focused on promoting innovation and export in this industry, and we look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of the conference.
