Network Administrator – Management Information Systems Department

Job Scope

To design, implement and maintain the technical infrastructure required to support the corporate data systems and infrastructure.

 Key Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform a range of duties to effectively support the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department.  These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, setup, maintain and monitor Wide Area Network/Local Area Network (WAN/LAN) infrastructure.
  • Manage user accounts and data access permissions.
  • Install enterprise wide Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software, monitor, mitigate and report threats to network from Virus and Spyware.
  • Identify and mitigate network security risks.
  • Design, setup, maintain and monitor Windows servers and desktop office applications and operating systems.
  • Set up and maintain MySQL and Microsoft SQL database servers.
  • Install and configure data backup system.
  • Install system alert mechanisms and monitoring tools for server room environment.
  • Track system warranties and manage hardware repairs or replacement for equipment under warranty.
  • Repair or collaborate with external service providers to repair equipment for which the warranty has expired
  • Constantly work to improve existing network designs and bring new technology ideas to the table.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Receive, troubleshoot and resolve user issues in a timely manner.
  • Document routine network administrative processes.
  • Ensure that data backup is performed in keeping with pre-established schedules and data tapes stored on and off site.
  • Perform system recovery procedures as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies that impact job function.
  • Maintain a Windows update server to keep both servers and work stations up to date with software patches.
  • Any other related duties as assigned by Manager, or his/her designate.

 Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies

  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience administering Microsoft Windows Servers including Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, IIS and preferably also SQL Server
  • Three (3) years’ experience in deploying and maintaining Microsoft office applications and Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Sever Load Balancing, Virtualization (e.g. Hyper V)
  • Working knowledge of switches, routers and firewalls
  • Working knowledge of data storage systems such as Network Attached Storage devices (NAS)
  • Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate on projects
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to work on own initiative and manage time effectively

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent (e.g. Relevant Microsoft Certifications)
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience administering Microsoft Windows Servers including Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, IIS and preferably also SQL Server
  • Three (3) years’ experience in deploying and maintaining Microsoft office applications and Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System
  • Experience in designing, troubleshooting and administering WAN/LAN networks
  • Project management training and experience
  • Two or more years’ experience in Microsoft CRM Dynamics and  is an asset
  • Two or  more years’ experience in Microsoft SharePoint 2013 is an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills
