The 4 week programme provides training in industry-specific technology  and customer service skills needed for employment in the ICT/BPO industry. For the first cohort of 30, the initiative also creates employment opportunities and exposure to working in the technology sector. Avasant Foundation has launched the second training programme in Montego Bay, and plans to train two more  groups in Jamaica before the end of  September this year.

Participants in the employment initiative have reported that many have already received job offers, while others are going through interviews and are looking to continue their career in the Digital Economy. JAMPRO's President Diane Edwards congratulated the students, saying that JAMPRO was fully committed to supporting any initiative that developed the BPO industry and Jamaica's youth.

Chitra Rajeshwari also offered praise to the students. She said, “We have now finished our first program in Kingston with the second underway in Montego Bay. We have embarked on these initiatives to provide a new chapter to the lives of Jamaican youths in the BPO industry. These youths face many challenges and our programs helps them to learn and grow and beat the challenges. We help them to identify the opportunities that will shape their lives for the future.”
The programme is supported by JAMPRO, UTech, USAID and Fiwi Jamaica, Tritel Teleservices Jamaica, IBEX Global Jamaica, ITEL BPO Solutions and BPIAJ.
