Jamaica Trade and Invest will be participating in the Caribbean Forum of Local Government Conference 2009, which takes place from May 11-14, 2009 in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
This unique event brings together leading local government policy makers and practitioners, including ministers responsible for local government, mayors, local government leaders and councilors, academics and people from the private sector and civil society who work with local government.
Hosted by the Government of the Bahamas, the Commonwealth Local Government Conference will highlight some of the recent thinking and innovations in local government, and will serve as a forum for sharing best practices in local government across the Commonwealth.

This event follows in the wake of highly successful conferences such as the 2007 staging in Auckland, New Zealand. The outcomes of these conferences have been endorsed by Commonwealth Heads of Government and are helping central and local governments to strengthen their governance and democratic processes and to deliver better services.
Jamaica Trade and Invest will use the event as an opportunity to promote Jamaica as the place to do business, and will collaborate with the Department of Local Government in mounting a Jamaica/JTI exhibit which will include some leading Jamaican products.
