JAMPRO, JBDC, JEA and JMA Unite for Export

JAMPRO, the Jamaica Exporters’ Association (JEA), the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) and the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cement a partnership titled ‘Unite for Export’ that will develop programmes to increase Jamaica’s export sales. The announcement was made today, November 29, 2016 at The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries in Kingston.

The organizations will create opportunities for Jamaican companies to increase their potential to export and overall output, in addition to helping enterprises access new markets. The alliance will support the fulfillment of Jamaica’s National Export Strategy by executing objectives including the development of a needs analysis by sector, and identifying challenges and solutions for exporters.The Jamaica Exporters Association will lead the group in its execution of activities.

Vice President of Export and Market Development at JAMPRO, Robert Scott, said the agreement signaled a new era of private/public cooperation to increase Jamaica’s exports and penetration in new and emerging markets. He explained that JAMPRO was happy to support the initiative because of the Agency’s shared interest with the MOU partners in developing Jamaica’s exporters. 

Speaking on the potential of ‘Unite for Export’, he said, “ We at JAMPRO will support any initiative that is fixated on enabling our exporters’ success and potential to grow. We are pleased to become a part of ‘Unite for Export’, and we hope that this collaboration will bring new heights to Jamaica’s export success, and will increase Brand Jamaica’s presence internationally.”

JAMPRO is focused on facilitating business and partnerships to grow Jamaica’s economy. JAMPRO is an Agency of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.
