JAMPRO's Business Information Services and Library provide a wide catalogue of information resources and updates on current developments in Jamaica’s traditional export markets in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean, as well as in the key emerging markets of:

South America's largest economy, with a lucrative niche market for a wide range of premium processed foods and beverages, indigenous high-quality fashion and hand crafted brands.

The signing of a bilateral agreement between Jamaica and Brazil in May 2010 and the impending regional free trade agreement (FTA) between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) augurs well for Jamaica’s export prospects into South America's largest economy.

Brazil’s highest food imports include wheat and fish (and other sea foods), which rank 17th and 25th respectively in terms of value. Brazil has the sixth largest economy by nominal GDP in the world, and seventh largest by purchasing power parity.

South Africa

The retail markets of South Africa are open to specific export categories such as packaged foods, teas, coffee, beer and rum. As the newest member of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) alliance, South Africa’s consumption of food and beverages is on the rise. The country is a strong emerging economy with rich resources and diverse industries.

Jamaica's closest neighbour Cuba is a big food importer demanding primary agricultural products, beverages, processed foods and nutraceuticals. Existing trade and cooperation agreements between both countries have paved a smooth path for trade.

Russia’s consumption rate is growing faster than that of any other transitioning market, and Jamaica has excellent high-end products that will appeal to the expanding middle class with high disposable incomes. Processed foods, beverages and high-end fashion have great potential to do well in the Russian market, which has a favourable growth forecast for the next 15 years.
