Q: What is the general cost to participate in the expo?

A: Each exporter is required to pay a participation fee of US$700.00

Q: What does the cost entail?

A: JAMPRO facilitation costs. This includes:

  1. Translation of labels into Mandarin (if submission of current label is made prior to February 2, 2010 deadline).
  2. Shipping and clearance of goods (if they are delivered to JTI prior to the February 20, 2010 deadline).

Q: When is the deadline for payment?

A: Payment should be submitted with the Expression of Interest Form. The deadline for submission of payment is Friday, February 12, 2010.

Q: How will sales be conducted?

A: Within the booth at the Expo

Q: Will the products be on consignment?

A: No

Q: How will items sold be reimbursed to exporters?

A: Monthly

Q: What is the product quantity that can be shipped by individual merchants?

A: To be determined based on the level of participation/ number of exporters

Q: Will insurance be provided?

A: Yes, the People’s Republic of China will pay for the 1st shipment and insurance (Kindly note: Works of art e.g. paintings sculptures, etc will need additional insurance which is not provided.)

Q: Will Exhibitors Expression of Interest forms attached to email be accepted or does it need to be faxed?

A: Electronic copies of the Expression of Interest will be accepted; however exporters must pay the participation fee to confirm attendance

Q: If importers from Shanghai or the rest of the world show interest in our products, how will we be notified?

A: Monthly status reports on inventory and leads generated would be provided by JAMPRO’s expo team

Q: If labels must be in Mandarin and English, labeling miniature items with limited space will prove difficult. What is the policy?

A: Where space is limited, use Mandarin only

Q: In what currency will the product be sold?

A: Yuan

Q: Individual merchant shipment cost might be too high for a second shipment; will arrangements be made for a collective effort to facilitate cost sharing?

A:This is a commercial opportunity that may be explored by JEA, JAMPRO will not however be paying for a second shipment.

Q: Without Mandarin printer characters, how do we print our labels? Will you submit translations on a template?

A:JAMPRO will translate the text on your label and return for printing by your company’s graphic artist

Q: What documents do you need for proof of property rights from JIPO?

A:Trademark Certification

Q: Must brochures, flyers, and business cards be translated into Mandarin? How will this be done?

A:This would be ideal. JTI can provide contact information for translation services which may be used.

Q: Have proper arrangements been made for the re-shipment of goods from Shanghai should there remain unsold merchandise after the Expo? Or will that be the responsibility of the participating company? How will that happen, if we will be represented by the JTI personnel?

A:There is no provision for re-shipment. Where merchandise is not sold, the participating company will have to make arrangements for re-shipping.

Q: Is JTI organizing any charter or special flights to China for those who would like to attend during the two business forums in May & August?

A:No. Participants will have to make their own travel arrangements.

Q: Does JTI have any information on accommodation i.e. Hotel or Bed & Breakfast near to the Expo Grounds for those would like to attend?

A:No.

Q: Is there any market penetration funding available for those companies that would like to participate?

A:Unfortunately there are no available market penetration funds at this time

Q: Although the first shipment is free does this also include all customs fees?

A:Customs fees are not included

Q: If a company already has their Jamaican products in China, what is the procedure to get them to the booth/gift shop?

A:Pay the participation of fee of USD $700 and the necessary arrangements will be made by JTI and the respective company to facilitate the products in the booth/gift shop.

Q: Is a visa required to travel to China?

A: A Chinese visa is required for all trips to China. This can be obtained by visiting:

Processing of your Visa application usually takes four (4) business days.

It is recommended that all visitors to China be in good health and properly vaccinated.This can be demonstrated by obtaining a Health Certificate. It is also advisable to obtain travel insurance.

Q: How can I make arrangements for accommodations?

A: The location of the Expo site is not within walking distance of any hotel. Any hotel found on any travel site, for example www.ctrip.com, that meets the user’s specific requirements is fine. LujiaZui or Pudong JinQiao Districts are recommended.
